CSC students get fancy at NOCS ‘Fancy-Like’ Fall Semi-Formal

By Olivia Newton

Students put on their cowboy and cowgirl boots to bust a move on the dance floor during the Fancy Like Fall Semi-Formal on Saturday in the Student Center Ballroom.

RLA partnered with NOCS to put the event on so students could learn how to two-step from NOCS regulars.

“I did this last year on Valentine’s Day and students like it, so I wanted to do it again,” Head RA of the event Lena Aslan, 23, senior of Elizbeth, Colorado, said. “NOCS decided on doing a semi-formal and thought that the Ballroom would be best for on-campus students.”

The loud country music and the smell of cookies brought students into the Ballroom where they could sign up to win prizes and enjoy some sweets including cookies and pie.

Kelcie, Van Anne, 20, junior of Dalton, said she “likes to go country swing dancing whenever she can” and “goes to NOCS every Sunday along with her groups of friends.”

As the night went on NOCS members and other students got to show off their country swing with tossing and twisting their dancing partner all over the dance floor.

Juliana Sellars,19, sophomore of Westminster, Colorado, said that “she likes to country dance and dance with her friends” and that “it’s easier to dance in boots and jeans but is nice to dress from time to time to go country swing dancing.”
