Leake represents CSC at wrestling nationals
Ethan Leake, redshirt sophomore of Clovis, California, was the only wrestler to represent the Eagles at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships on Friday, in St. Louis.
He earned his way to nationals after he wrestled three ranked opponents and three of the top four seeds in his weight class at the 2022 NCAA DII Super Region 6 Championships, taking runner-up at Grand Junction, Colorado.
He started off the day against No. 4 Zeth Brower of Lander University in the 141-pound weight class. Going into the third period, Brower held a lead with four points after a takedown in the first period and a reversal in the second.
Leake was able to takedown Brower in the third and earned points against a wrester who was unscored on through the past month. Brower took the decision win by the end, 5-2.
Leake’s season as well as CSC’s ended with a fall loss in the consolation bracket.
