Gov. withdraws student trustee appointment pending court decisions
The CSC student trustee position will remain vacant, temporarily at least, after Gov. Pete Ricketts withdrew his appointment of former CAB finance chair Caleb Tegtmeier. The governor’s decision came after he learned the news about two sexual assault protection order petitions filed in February against Tegtmeier.
No criminal charges have been filed in connection with either case.
Ricketts appointed Tegtmeier, 19, sophomore of North Platte, to the position in January. Tegtmeier would have assumed the post in May.
Ricketts’ director of strategic communication Alex Reuss wrote in an email to The Eagle April 13 that the “Governor was not aware” of the protection order petitions, when he made the January appointment.
Reuss wrote in an email Tuesday that the governor “has rescinded the offer pending the outcome of Mr. Tegtmeier’s hearing” and the position will remain vacant until then.
After an April 8 hearing in Dawes County Court, Judge Russell W. Harford said he would render a decision on May 23 about the Feb. 15 protection order petition.
