NGPC events for bird month
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has announced several events for Bird Month beginning April 29.
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park will be hosting an art show April 29- May 1. The Kiewit Lodge will be hosting a wine and cheese tasting April 29, 6-9 p.m. The art show will be open on April 30 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on May 1.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day, the Arbor Lodge on Nebraska City will be open for self-guided tours, April 29-May 1. The 52 room mansion will be open to the public along with the Women of Arbor Lodge display and the spring planting at Morton Farm.
In North Platte at Cody Park, will host the North Platte City Nature Challenge Mini BioBlitz from 10 a.m. to noon on May 2.
Fort Robinson State Park is hosting a free birding hike for all ages on May 14 at 9 a.m.
Also on May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area will be hosting Fishing and Furs with park naturalists.
Swanson Reservoir State Recreation Area near Trenton will be teaching people how to build bird houses May 14 at 1 p.m. The event will be at the large shelter on Trail 4.
Tyler Vanderheiden Memorial Run will be at Cody Park in North Platte, May 14. Participates can run either 2 or 4 miles stretches. The run will be trying to raise awareness for mental health and will raise money for Nebraska Game and Parks trails.
May 15 at 9 to 11 p.m.,the Wildcat Hills Nature Center will be hosting a lunar eclipse viewing party to view the blood moon.
Enders Reservoir State Recreation Area will be hosting a full bioblitz, May 20-21.
Eighth Annual Migratory Bird Day will be celebrated at Indian Cave State Park, May 28 with the Show and Shine Car Show starting at 2 p.m. Migratory bird activities will begin at 4 p.m.
