An 18-year-old CSC student was arrested Wednesday night, accused of multiple felony firearm possession violations, following complaints of shots fired within city limits, the Chadron Police Department stated in a press release issued Thursday.
CPD remanded the student, a redshirt freshman football player, to the Dawes County Jail Wednesday night on an affidavit that accuses him with “Unlawful Possession of a Firearm,” a class IV Felony; “Possession of a Stolen Firearm,” a Class IIA Felony; and “an infraction of Possession of Marijuana under one ounce,” CPD’s release states.
The arrested student’s bond had not been set as of press time Thursday. His name was removed from the CSC football roster early Thursday morning.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, CPD officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the 500 block of North Main Street, the release states. Officers were given a license plate number and description of the vehicle at the scene and found two empty shell casings from a .380 caliber handgun.
At about 9 p.m., officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the Kent Hall parking lot on CSC’s campus and identified the driver and three additional occupants who had been in the car. After conducting interviews, officers discovered that the arrested student had allegedly fired the weapon.
The handgun, which police said had been reported stolen in Pueblo, Colorado, was found on campus, the release states. After searching the student’s Kent Hall dormitory room, police found ammunition for the handgun, the release states.

Big oof… would say I’m surprised but I’m not. Campus security must have been wildin’ last night. Campus can’t catch a break…
