CSC music program holds a night of jazz music
The CSC music program kicked off its holiday concert season with three performances from the vocal jazz chorus, the regional jazz band and the student jazz band last Monday.
The eight members of CSC’s vocal jazz chorus, under the direction of Joel Schreuder, professor of music, started off the night with “Plea” arranged by Cedric Dent, and “Beautiful Friendship” arranged by Matt Falker.
The following pieces, “Run to You” and “Come Back to Me”, gave the audience various tunes and rhythms throughout, performed by the talented vocal jazz students.
Following vocal jazz was CSC’s regional jazz band, under the direction of Michael Stephens, professor of music. The band formed stunning sounds with a wide arrangement of instruments.
In between the performances of the regional jazz band, Stephens gave some words to the crowd about the band and how fun it has been working with the group.
“It was a combination of a lot of work the students worked hard and it paid off,” Stephens said.
Finishing the night off was CSC’s student jazz band, also under the direction of Stephens, which rounded out an eventful night of music.
