Student Senate allocates to Sharing and Caring program

Student Senate allocated $300 to the Chadron Sharing and Caring program for Christmas stockings at its 4.pm. meeting Monday.
Sharing and Caring is a program in Chadron that provides necessary items to seniors in the Chadron community. During the holiday season they provide seniors with stockings full of self-care items and other goods.
Sharing and Caring also places cards on a Christmas tree at Walmart on 510 Linden St. that people can purchase to give seniors items catered to them.
The program served around 280 seniors in 2021.
“I think this event is important because it shows the true spirit of giving during the Christmas season,” Chief Justice Megan Hodgson, sophomore of McCook, stated in a text. “A lot of the recipients are alumni and even if they aren’t, they have given back to the community in so many ways. The least we can do is show them that we are thankful for all they have done.”
Chadron students are encouraged to help stuff the stockings as a volunteer opportunity on Monday, Dec. 12, and help deliver them Dec. 15 and 16.
