Chadron State Men’s Wrestling lost three duals on Sunday at home in the Chicoine Center at the Chadron State Duals.
San Francisco State University took CSC 24-16, Western Colorado University finished 31-15, and number one ranked St. Cloud State University ended the Eagles’ final dual 40-7.
“Our goal moving forward has to be getting our main guys healthy,” Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Brett Hunter, “Our backup wrestlers are not ready to compete with the elite competition we are seeing.”
Chadron’s 285-pounder Mason Watt, a senior from Broomfield, Colorado pulled his weight throughout the day, winning every one of his matches. He beat Emilio Franco Sandoval of SFSU 2-0, pinned Zach Schrader of WCU, and by a major decision of 12-1 beat Jadon Mims of SCSU.
“My mentality tends to never wavier when it comes to matches,” Watt said, “it’s something I have learned after being a heavy weight for so long. Sometimes I have to be the deciding factor of the dual, other times I’m just wrestling for myself.”
“I haven’t been on a team this motivated in a while and I know we will accomplish great things,” said Watt.
The Eagles travel to Fort Hays, Kansas on Sunday to wrestle against the Fort Hays State University Tigers starting at 8 a.m.
