Patterson named CSC president

Ron Patterson was one of 63 candidates who applied for CSC’s presidential position

following the retirement announcement of Randy Rhine.

Patterson was one of four final candidates brought to CSC to meet students, faculty and

staff, and the Chadron community. The other candidates were John Fritch, Jodi Kupper and Brent Marsh.

Patterson will be leaving his current position at the University of North Alabama-Florence. His education includes a bachelor of science in Human Resources from the University of Tennessee-Southern, a master of arts in education from Marietta College and a doctorate of education in higher education administration and leadership from Creighton University. Patterson was the only one of the final four candidates with an Ed.D and not a Ph.D.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be selected to serve as the President of Chadron State College,” Patterson said in an Nebraska State College System press release.

“Chadron State College is a special place, and I look forward to joining the strong team of dedicated faculty and staff to continue to enhance the lives and experiences of our students, their families, and the community. The mission, vision, and values align well with my purpose and commitment to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community. My steadfast commitment is to the student experience, establishing connections with alumni, and community members to ensure their success, while building on the exciting future of Chadron State College.”

According to NSCS Chancellor Paul Turman, Patterson had good reviews from both students and faculty following the on-campus visits.

Patterson’s start date is July 1, according to the NSCS. He will serve as the 12th president of CSC. Salary for Patterson has not been published by the NSCS at this time, outgoing president Randy Rhine’s salary was $244,800.

the future.”
