The CSC Student Senate swore in two senators and made several allocations including a large allocation to the Campus Activity Board at its 4 p.m. meeting Monday in the Student Center Scottsbluff Room.
The meeting began with Chief Justice Megan Hodgson, junior of McCook, swearing in two senators. Thomas Walsh, of Kearney, and Kaylea Geiser, of Syracuse, both discussed their enthusiasm for being a voice for students and how they plan to represent the student body. Walsh previously represented Eagle Ridge before becoming a BMS senator.
“I want to help out with the student body and especially give a voice to the business, math and science majors,” Walsh said in the meeting. “I will definitely be on the Activity Fee Board because I know it’s not everyone’s favorite position.”
The two new senators close the gap on the amount of open spaces still left vacant in the student senate, however, it remains to be seen if the vacancy will ever be filled.
CSC President Dr. Ron K. Patterson attended the meeting and discussed the importance of senate on campus. He also spoke on new renovations that are happening on campus and their importance.
“I think what you do is very important, and you are the voice of the student body,” Patterson said. “It is so important that you come in with an open mind and voice your concerns and your issues, and you bring something forward for this body.”
Patterson added that if students need help on campus, financially, mentally, or otherwise, that they contact him and voice their concerns. Patterson wants to inform CSC students that the administration on campus can help and provide support.
