What Shaunda French-Collins Can Do for You
by Grace Payton
When you stop by Dean Shaunda French-Collins’ office, you are likely to leave with a piece of advice and a piece of candy. The dean of the School of Business, Math and Science has brought a new perspective for the BMS students. “I think I bring a unique perspective to business, math and science, even though I’m not from any of their disciplines,” she shared with excitement.
French-Collins has created an open door for students to come for advice, whether it’s how to calm the stress of RHOP or “just because”. She leans on her past teaching experience in the communications department to help strengthen their skills for success. Although she is leading BMS, her invitation is open to all majors.
“I find Shaunda’s office a breath of fresh air and a place to decompress from my classes. She has been my go-to for advice since I started attending CSC,” says CSC sophomore Shelby Westinghouse.
After spending 15 years at Chadron State College, French-Collins has witnessed many students transform from shy freshmen to confident graduates. “… But that’s my favorite thing, seeing you all grow, continually learn, explore new things, and then see you thrive and walk across the stage.
Her best advice for being successful? Get involved on campus, get out of your dorm room, and never be scared to ask for help.
