The Chadron State men’s rodeo team started the fall Central Rocky Mountain Region circuit strong this weekend in Chadron at the Dawes County Fairgrounds placing first with 530 points, putting them in the lead of the region. CSC was followed by the Sheridan College men’s team, who racked up 510 points.

The day was warm and sunny at most times, when Chadron State students and faculty set out to make a difference in the Chadron community Saturday. While some volunteers worked at one job site, others were able to finish jobs in good time and move on to help with other projects. This was the case with the volunteers that helped hang the net batting cage at Chadron’s baseball fields, located just off Main Street.

There was not an empty table in the room during the rodeo team’s annual Black Tie Calf Fry fundraiser Saturday night in the Student Center Ballroom, and the team was able to raise $14,000 gross profit.

The CSC rodeo team is hosting its annual Black Tie Calf Fry this Saturday. The event is the team’s annual fundraiser. There will be a roast beef dinner along with Rocky Mountain Oysters and live entertainment. Tickets can be purchased from any rodeo team member in advance for $15 or $20 at the door.

Taylor Summers, junior of Plymouth, 133-pounds, qualified for his first NCAA Championship two weeks ago at the West Super Region IV Tournament in Gunnison, Colorado. There he faced and defeated No. 3 Martin Ramirez, redshirt junior of Adams State University, Alamosa, Colorado, avenging a loss earlier in the season.
