Find a passion, light a fire

I have loved the idea of a fast-paced life since I was a child. In my mind, “fast-paced” used to mean a big city, a million people, and bright lights. But now, “fast-paced” means something completely different. I began running long distance when I was 11 years old and have not been able to pull myself away from the adrenaline rush that comes from the sport.

Senate amends bylaws to release numbers

At the last official meeting of the semester, Senators amended the Election Procedure A-29 bylaw that used to read “No candidates’ names will be mentioned in the vote-count narrative.” The bylaw now reads “All candidate names and their corresponding vote count shall be included in the vote-count narrative.” This amendment takes effect immediately so it will be in effect for elections in the fall 2016 semester.

Senate looks for student input

Senate President Katrina Hurley said the Book Ends Coffee Shop in Reta E. King Library is losing about $20,000 per year. Kathy Stokey, administration and finance office assistant said Dale Grant, vice president of finance and administration, said the coffee shop is losing $26,000 per year and right now Vice Presidents Charles Snare, of academic affairs, and Jon Hansen, of enrollment management, marketing & student services, are taking that loss from their state accounts, according to Grant.
