Officials outline future football coach’s qualifications

Chadron State College officials, through the college’s human resources office, have outlined nine requisites they are seeking in candidates who apply for the head football coaching position at the institution.

CSC published the requisites in the vacancy announcement hosted on the college’s human resources page, the NCAA job market, and the Higher Education Jobs site. The college officially announced the vacancy Friday, and stated in the announcement that the “Review of applications will begin January 20, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.”

Advertised at a .92 full-time equivalent status, the head football coaching position is slightly less than a full-time position.

The vacancy announcement mentioned financial responsibility twice – once in reference to coordinating fundraising efforts through the CSC foundation, and the other by stating that the applicant must effectively manage the football program’s budget. Knowledge and compliance of NCAA rules and regulations was also mentioned twice.

The vacancy announcement can be viewed here.

We truly wish the program well as it is a storied program, but have grave concerns with the direction of President Park and Athletic Director Smith. The supporters, fans and contributors have been deluged with a level of unprofessionalism of a situation at Chadron State which is hard to comprehend. I cannot recall reading, nor have I professionally been associated with a situation like this, which was immediately disclosed to the public unless a personal vendetta was behind the scenes. Best wishes to Coach O’Boyle, the dedicated staff and athletes at CSC, our support is behind you.

      Mr. Young

I think this is what you would call BACK DOOR. First time I have ever been ashamed to tell people where I went to school.

Maybe the college needs to post the ATHLETIC DIRECTOR qualifications. It appears to me that the only position that needs to be replaced is that one.

I with you on that one, but you better include the President and Foundation.

Born and raised in Chadron, I have always supported the Eagles. I did not attend college there but trust me when I was away I always paid close attention to what was going on and went to games that were played close. What Coach O’Boyle, Coach Stein, Coach Auer and staff have done with that college and those kids, is something nobody can describe. They take kids who some have no direction but football and develop them into men. It’s not just a football thing its their every day daily lives they affect. These Coaches have been the backbone of CSC for the longest time. Yeah Brad Smith was Head Coach there but it wasn’t because of them they were good. It was because of these 3 who have put the blood, sweat and tears into this organization. CSC went over the top when O’B took over and he took the program to a new level. Chadron State will never be the same, nor will I ever support any CSC function. I understand Brad Smith and Parks are behind this fully and there is a hidden agenda with this whole firing of O’B. O’B is a great coach yeah but he is a man of his word and a man of character. His players would walk through fire for him. Brad is jealous that O’B is a better coach/person and I think it eats at Brad. What CSC did was wrong, they need to get rid of the AD (who can never be trusted), President Parks.
I hope the Coaches find jobs in the RMAC and I hope they ROLL CSC when they play each other. O’B, STEIN, AUER, YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST.
