Women’s basketball lose final game by 20
In their regular season finale the Chadron State women’s basketball team lost 73-53 to Black Hills State University, Spearfish, S.D., on Saturday night at Armstrong.
The game was a competitive affair in the first twenty minutes with the Yellow Jackets leading by seven at half. However, the Eagles fell behind in the second half by as much as 26 points and could never overcome the large deficit.
Logan Cowan, junior of Highmore, S.D.; Lindsey Fearing, senior of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Shanna Halalilo, junior of Orem, Utah; scored 18, 12 and 15 respectively, combining for 45 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.
The Eagles struggled offensively throughout the game shooting 37 percent from the floor, and only 14 percent from the 3-point arc.
Kattie Ranta, senior of Rapid City, S.D., who scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds, led Chadron State. Kayli Rageth, senior of Kimball, had seven points to go along with eight rebounds.
Saturday night’s games were the final games that will be held at Armstrong, as the next phase of the $16.2 million expansion of Armstrong will have a new basketball court and will be finished by next season.
Chadron State ended their season with a 4-22 overall record, and 4-18 in RMAC play.
