Eagles handle schedule changes at Kit Mayer Classic
The Chadron State Eagles got off to a strong start at the Kit Mayer Classic in Golden, even after the meet schedule was changed because of bad weather.
The meet was originally planned for Friday and Saturday, but organizers moved it to Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The change forced teams to adjust quickly, making things hectic for athletes and coaches alike.
“The changing of the schedule was really hectic on our end, but it’s the life of the game,” said Coach Gruver. “Our athletes are always prepared to perform at the highest level when called upon.”
Day one showed exactly why. Chadron State athletes came into the meet focused and ready. Sprinters posted new personal bests, while throwers reached impressive marks early in the season. Despite the unusual schedule, the team stayed calm and competitive, showing they could adapt to challenges.
The Eagles’ performance on day one reflects not only their talent but also their preparation. “Our team trains to handle any situation,” Coach Gruver said. “Weather, schedule changes, or unexpected delays won’t stop them from giving their best.”
With the opening day complete, the Eagles now look forward to Saturday’s final events. The team hopes to carry the momentum from early personal records into more strong performances and continue showing why Chadron State is a force at the Kit Mayer Classic.
