Read MoreA nation-wide campaign urges people to wear purple in honor of “Spirit Day,” a day to raise awareness and tolerance for the homosexual community. The campaign has spread rapidly on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
The campaign is a reaction to the six suicides committed in recent months when the teenaged victims were subjected to bullying after coming out as homosexuals.
The Eagle honors this campaign and tolerance by featuring purple on their website’s background.
