We begin our journey 10 hours by train southwest of Beijing to Liang Dang County, Gansu Province. Traveling 70 miles through the rough, winding roads of Da Dian Gou’s low, rolling mountains we reach a small mining camp made up of 10, large, army-green canvas wall tents.

RELEASE LIVE 2014 hits the stage with a night full of local talent!

This Saturday, March 22nd, Chadron State College will experience “Release” for the eighth year in a row. In years past, students and community members have packed Memorial Hall’s mainstage auditorium, ready to experience CSC’s artistic heavy-hitters. At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Release organizers hope to see a similar turnout.

The gamblers, dressed to the nines, took their seats at the round table. Facing the dealer, one took out his fancy Cuban cigar and lit it with his gold-plated lighter. The room smelled of smoke and the low, slow music was being played by the usual guy over on the old, baby grand piano in the corner. The dealer fluidly dealt out two cards to each player and the high-stakes game commenced.

The Mari Sandoz Chicoine Atrium was filled with the melodies of classical and jazz music; performed by the Department of Music Faculty at 3 p.m. Sunday. bringing some musical warmth to the cold snowy day.

The Birds, formerly the Jazz Birds, debuted in a new location Thursday. Because their former venue, Wrecker’s Roadhouse on Main Street is closing, the musical ensemble, which features CSC students under the direction of Professor of Music Sandy Schaefer, found a new nest to perform its talents in.

The second annual Mr. & Mrs. CSC Pageant took place at 9 p.m., Thursday, in the Student Center Ballroom. Jazz Bozner, junior of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Mercy Gagnon, senior of Togo, Africa, were crowned Mr. & Mrs. CSC 2014.
