Inform yourself before you cast your ballot

Simply registering to vote isn’t enough. According to the official report of the 2014 Nebraska General Elections compiled by Nebraska Secretary of State John A. Gale, only 552,115 of the 1,158,840 registered voters in the state of Nebraska submitted ballots in the last midterm election. In Dawes County, only 2,786 of 5,983 registered voted. That is less than half of the already registered voters. 

So why is it that 20-somethings would rather participate in Twitter polls than cast a ballot for government officials?

Post what feels right

Over the last few days I have noticed a rise in supporting body acceptance on social media. Influencers on Instagram are posting “bare face” photos with captions supporting their natural look. I see some of my friends postings photos of them just waking up with captions like “I woke up like this #flawless.” 

After seeing so many people follow this trend that seems to fluctuate throughout the year, I decided to comment on it as well.

Make your health a priority

I really enjoy school. I know that sounds crazy, but I love getting to meet new people, go to events and hang out with friends. On top of that, I have to do school work, which is not my favorite, but I have to get it done. 

With all of this going on, it is pretty easy to get caught up in the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life. Sometimes I forget to take care of myself and put my needs first.
