Find a passion, light a fire

I have loved the idea of a fast-paced life since I was a child. In my mind, “fast-paced” used to mean a big city, a million people, and bright lights. But now, “fast-paced” means something completely different. I began running long distance when I was 11 years old and have not been able to pull myself away from the adrenaline rush that comes from the sport.

Keep growing, don’t rot

When you’re green, you’re growing. When you’re ripe, you rot.” That quote is credited to Ray Kroc, a businessman who is credited with building McDonald’s into the success it is. This statement has a message that has been passed around the newsroom multiple times through the years. There is a poster in the newsroom that reads, “Oh, that’s good enough.” This poster is hanging as a sarcastic reminder that we should always strive to be the best that we can be, in all aspects of our lives.
