Student Senate tables $40,000 allocation for Spring Days; discusses bylaw revisions

Student Senate tabled the discussion of allocating $40,000 for the upcoming return of Spring Days during its weekly meeting Monday.
“For those of you that haven’t been around for a Spring Days, this is average if not leaning a little bit towards the bottom end of Spring Days normally,” Senator of PSAS Kelsey Crock said. “They’ve been anywhere from $20,000 to like $75,000.”
Crock said the list of events could include a concert or two, food trucks and the return of the nearly naked mile, but it’s all dependent on the budget they have to work with.
The last Spring Days was in 2019. Because of COVID-19, CSC has been unable to hold another one since then.
Crock expects Spring Days to fall during the week of April 23.
“It’s like the last big hoorah before the school year is done and right before finals,” Crock said.
Along with voting on the allocation, Student Senate will also be voting on new changes to the Senate and CAB bylaws.
The bylaw changes for Senate include requiring Student Senate committees to submit budget packets to AFB for any request over $500 and creating the inability of the Student Senate Executive Board to increase the number of committees a senator must sit on.
For CAB, the bylaw changes would allow one student to represent up to three different clubs at the meetings and change the meeting time to 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month.
