Student Senate

Owing to the Labor Day Holiday, Student Senate did not meet this week. Student Senate’s next meeting will be 5 p.m. Monday.

Library improvements were the main topic of discussion at Monday night’s Student Senate meeting.

The first meeting of student senate is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday in the Scottsbluff Room of the Student Center.
The meeting is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend and observe.

Student Senate did not meet Monday due to the spring break holiday. The final senate meeting for the spring 2011 semester was April 18.

Riley Machal, chief justice, swore in Liz Rice as senator of E.H.P.C.P.S.W, and new student senate executive board members including Morgan Nelson as president, James Bahensky as vice-president, T.J. Thomson as treasurer, Chrissy Black as secretary, Beth Wroblewski as corresponding secretary, Sammy Shaykett as parliamentarian, and Nisha Durand as chief justice.

Technology on campus was the main topic of discussion at this week’s Senate meeting.

The senate swore in new members and available executive board positions were discussed at its meeting this Monday.

Student Senate unanimously voted to approve the Senate Finance Committee’s recommended allocations of $140,000 in student activity funds for the 2011-12 academic year. The senate also allocated $1,000 to Marty Lastovica, junior of Omaha, to cover additional production costs for Release, a live music and arts revue planned for April.

An amendment to the constitution and details for student elections were discussed at senate this week.

This week at Senate three new members were inducted as senators and a community service activity was planned for Senate members.
