Social media started as a way for friends, family, and loved ones to communicate with each other without having to pick up a phone. Billions of people have social accounts ranging in all ages from children to elderly people. What it’s slowly turned into is a place where people flaunt their lives, bully each other, or perform other careless and rude acts.

Internet trends are always changing. The best memes too evolve and are shared across both social media and real-life platforms.

A meme, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is “an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.” This could be anything from “salt bae” to Spongebob on the internet.
