Countdown to 2026 Big Event on April 11
The Big Event is set take place on Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to noon. This is a community service event that occurs every April in Chadron, Neb. The students, faculty and staff of the college give back to the Chadron community volunteering their time and energy in cleaning up and beautifying the parks, businesses, residential homes.
The day involves the volunteers meeting for orientation at the assigned rendezvous spot and for their free t-shirt then they head out to their pre-assigned jobsite. All volunteers, when done, return to a different meeting spot for their subway sandwich around noon.
Though job site and volunteer registration deadlines have passed, the volunteer forms are still open, and walk-in will be taken on the big day. However, with missing the registration deadlines also means missing the chance to get the free Subway sandwich.
Participating in the Big Event is a great opportunity to build one’s resume, interact with multiple people, and make new friends.
