Student Senate

The proposal to move all student government-related meetings to Mondays was approved during the Senate meeting Monday. This approval was made successful after the amendment of by-laws from the senators.

Student Senate Elections closed noon, Friday, April 20.

Elections for senate began Wednesday at noon, and close noon on Friday, April 20.

Senator elections are April 18-20, and candidates can officially start campaigning.

“Petitions are turned in,” said Chief Justice Samantha Merrill. “We had nine people petition, and seven of them are senatorial positions, and two of them [are] for executive positions. Keep an eye open for elections which are April 18-20.”

Budget season is underway and AFB has sent out the Budget and Trip packets to all students.

Senate approved a budget of $4,757.94 to be allocated for an interdisciplinary trip to be taken Feb. 26 and 27 to the University of South Dakota.

Senate has a current budget of $8,646.40 in unallocated funds. In allocated unspent funds, Senate has a budget of $163,421.33. Senate also discussed the matter of incentives for senators as a method of recruitment in depth, concluding that senator jackets would be the best form of incentive in addition to the polos they already have.
