The Chadron State wrestling team opened its season Saturday at the Cowboy Open hosted by the University of Wyoming, Laramie.
The Eagles were led by Sean Glasgow, redshirt freshman of Newark, New Jersey, 149-pounds, who was the champion in the amateur bracket, and Chance Helmick, junior of Beatrice, 174-pounds, in the elite division.
32 wrestlers on roster to start season
The Chadron State wrestling team began practice Oct. 10, signaling the beginning of the winter sports season. Head Coach Brett Hunter has 32 men on the roster this season.

Taylor Summers, junior of Plymouth, 133-pounds, qualified for his first NCAA Championship two weeks ago at the West Super Region IV Tournament in Gunnison, Colorado. There he faced and defeated No. 3 Martin Ramirez, redshirt junior of Adams State University, Alamosa, Colorado, avenging a loss earlier in the season.

The CSC wrestlers traveled to the Western Slope for the second weekend in a row to compete in the NCAA Super Region IV Regional Tournament hosted by Western State Colorado University, Gunnison.

This weekend the CSC wrestling team traveled to the Western Slope to take on two tough RMAC opponents. On Friday, they battled Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction; and on Saturday they competed against Western State Colorado University, Gunnison. The Eagles fell to both opponents, leaving them 14-3 overall and 4-2 in conference duals.
