Senate runs quick meeting without Senate President
In the absence of Senate President Katrina Hurley, senators discussed various projects and events, but did not make any big changes or allocations at Monday’s 18-minute meeting.
Vice President Karson Langley said that Hurley was gone from the meeting because she was “not feeling well.”
Vice President of Finance Lukas Klueber reminded senators that budget packets will be available for clubs Monday, and then will be due back Friday, March 3. Budget hearings will be March 27-31 and budgets will be proposed to Senate on Monday, April 10. Senate has $45,648.33 in unallocated funds.
At next week’s meeting the Spring Daze committee will be asking for an allocation of $6,046.31 for apparel for the event.
Sen. Johnathan Sayaloune, who sits on the Campus Facilities, Safety and ADA Compliance presidential committee, said that the committee is talking about updating the sprinkler systems on campus. He said at the meeting Monday there was a project update that included updating sprinkler systems and replacing and shampooing carpets in various residence halls. Sayaloune also said when there is an issue with handicap doors and buttons not working on campus, maintenance should first be informed of the problem.
CAB will be hosting a water pong tournament at 7 p.m. Friday in the Student Center. There will be prizes for the top three two-person teams.
Student Trustee Coy Clark and Hurley have been meeting with Charles Snare, vice president of academic affairs, Clark said, to discuss various surveys coming out for students in the near future. Clark said there will be an event for students to ask questions about the surveys before hand with Snare; Pat Beu, senior director of student affairs; and David Nesheim, interim director of assessment, at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Scottsbluff Rm.
The 5 p.m. Thursday open forum will feature the Spring Daze allocation and the feminine hygiene initiative.
